Competitiveness Hub

Since 2008 DEE-AED is promoting in Durangaldea a business development initiative to make possible a new phase of transformation of the production network based on the cooperation of companies from different sectors and public and private agents from the fields of formation, technology and enterpreneurship.

The project is making possible the development and establishment of a Competitiveness Hub which will create new business activities. This future Services’ Centre will give the region a new boost for innovation and technological development in two different ways:

1. By establishing new companies and/or diversifying existing ones through the development of new products, the identification of new markets and the application of New Technologies (Product Market Technology).
2. By increasing the competitiveness of the specialized companies through the renovation and update of the Product Technology Market, the optimization of production costs, the selection and improvement of technology, the rationalization and profitability of the means of production with help from networking, or the study of strategies to enter new markets. 

During the last three years of Project, DEE and its partner companies have had the essential collaboration of different institutions. 

1. The innovation centre SAIOLAN, for instance, has collaborated all throughout the initial phase, with the theoretical development of the competitiveness hub and during the very first practical experiences with companies (2010); The Commonwealth of Municipalities of Durangaldea has represented all the municipalities involved; the Department for Promotion and Innovation of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia; The Basque Government through the Association for the Promotion of Industry (SPRI) and its assistance programmes; and other public and private institutions –Vocational Training Centres, Technological centres such as Azterlan..- have made it possible for this experience to be integral and integrative at the service of the region.
